Rotary Club of Festival City Stratford
The Rotary Club of Festival City is a service club local to Stratford, Ontario. It is just one of over 35,000 Rotary clubs operating in over 200 countries around the world, all working together under the banner of Rotary International. The total number of Rotarians worldwide is 1.2 million. The Rotary Club of Festival City, like all Rotary Clubs, brings together business, community, and professional leaders to take action towards the shared goal of humanitarian service to advance goodwill and peace around the world under the motto, "Service Above Self."
Rotary Club of Festival City has supported a number of local and international initiatives through fundraising. Funds raised support the seven areas of service locally and abroad:
- Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water and sanitation
- Maternal and child health
- Basic education and literacy
- Economic and community development
The Rotary Club of Festival City has had the opportunity to support local projects in Stratford, like Off To School Smiling (donating school supplies for children via the local food bank) and capital projects like a community basketball court and tree-planting. The club's meetings also provide a weekly platform for businesses, charities, initiatives, and community members to share their stories with their membership via presentations.
The Rotary Club of Festival City is using the Beneficial Goods online sales platform and has purchased products from the various makers as inventory. These purchases support local businesses and international endeavours alike while providing some invaluable startup funds for what will over time become a self-sustaining social enterprise.
